Nuvo believes it is positioned to research and develop new and existing drug product candidates in the area of pain for delivery into and through the skin.
First, Nuvo has assembled a team of experts who have significant expertise and experience in the pharmaceutical and drug development field focused in the area of pain.
Second, the Company has discovered several penetration enhancer formulations known as MMPE™s, that interact with the skin to modify its permeability, thereby allowing certain drug molecules to pass into and through the skin to underlying tissues that cause pain, such as joints, nerves and muscles.
Third, from these capabilities, Nuvo has created a portfolio of early stage drug candidates. The Company expects the most mature of its internally developed, early stage products to move from the laboratory into the next phase of development in 2011, as it plans to file an Investigational New Drug (IND) application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the most advanced candidate in 2011 and begin the clinical program thereafter.
